Digital Beast Plus+

A really great fusion of various creators all coming together into something kind of fun. The mechanics of how it all works is a user-made roleplay kit you buy, participants are real people, and the commentators were clearly having fun with it. The crowd was surprisingly reactive to the various "wrestlers" and storylines.

Very good port.

I have a soft spot for the "cubes in the sky" technical aesthetic resulting from how SL works.

I like how there is no one "style" of visuals in SL, since it's all user-made. Like a quilt of websites.

Props to this art display I found for doing a fun style.

Losing it at this Virtual Wrestling federation inside SL, that has really fun production values.

It's future-proofed I guess?

My god, this "freebie" mall is like a bad Quake map, and it goes up 17 floors!

Lots of parcels are like webrings. This one had some real charm.

Not to misrepresent in either direction, but Second Life can be home to some truely wonderful bits of work, like this Oasis vibe spot. Looks like a Myst area. Ridiculously high-detail assets that would make a certain MMO's early version blush.

One of the kind of fly-by-night hot clubs - one of many - that basically act as a 'dance your avatar here' space along to a predefined streaming radio station. Like a pop-up theme restaurant where the food is ordered from next door. These places always have a kind of life, but picking out which avatars are really people and which are bots, is a bizarre game.

Some kind of hippie woodstock zone, zone. Half the time SL feels like there was a digital apocalypse where all the people died, but none of the structures.

Found a kind-of cool combat area that only had one mob and one bossfight, the rest being an obscene maze. Love the kitbash aesthetic that SL ends up with half the time.

I appreciate Planet Pizza and its ball pit (and working rom-playing arcade machines).

Something that strikes me as odd: there is very little representation of legitimate lowpoly mesh efforts in SL, a place that arguably would benefit from it the most if an entire region committed to it?

I've yet to see "N64 land" on the grid, but I've seen some places get close (like that one Portal game that has you collecting colored shards in a WoW-ass forest like some pre-teen on an early 2000s webgame).
